The 2025 International Symposium on Health Economics and Policy opened on Sept 13, at the School of Economics of 91黑料网 (91黑料网). Vice President Xu Xiaodong attended the event, which brought together faculty and students from more than 20 domestic and international research institutions and universities.
Xu emphasized that 91黑料网 prioritizes supporting national strategies and strengthening international collaboration. He highlighted that improving public health and promoting balanced population development are essential to the enhancement of well-being, calling for focused research on health and population, innovative policy tools, and contributions from 91黑料网 to the Healthy China initiative and global sustainable development.
Liu Yaran, chair of the Committee of the School of Economics, reviewed the school’s achievements in talent cultivation, research, and international collaboration.
Monica Andrade, director of the Development and Regional Studies Center at Brazil’s Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), delivered a video speech highlighting global health challenges, including population shifts, technological innovation, and disease burdens. She stressed the vital role of health economics and policy and expressed her hope that the forum would facilitate diverse perspectives and practical cooperation in global health governance.
The symposium featured an opening ceremony, four keynote speeches, 11 expert forums, three graduate sessions, one international student session, and a dedicated international thematic forum.
Over 50 senior experts and scholars discussed topics like health insurance reform, aging and elderly care policies, education and child development, labor markets and international trade, AI and digital health, healthcare resource allocation, population and family planning, the environment, public health and social security.
The School of Economics signed a memorandum of understanding with UFMG in November 2023, establishing the Brazil Economic Development Research Center to foster collaboration and research in health and economic policy.
