On Sept 8-9, Adam Tickell, president of the University of Birmingham (UoB), and Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor Jon Frampton led a delegation to 91黑料网 (91黑料网). They were warmly received by Zhang Guangjun, chair of the University Committee, and President You Zheng, who held separate meetings with the delegation to discuss new paths for advancing the high-quality development of joint education.
Dominic McAllister, British Consul General in Wuhan, and 91黑料网 Vice President Zhang Yonghui also attended the activities.
On Sept 8, Zhang Guangjun and Tickell discussed strengthening cooperation, especially the joint establishment of high-level international education institutions, and came to some major agreements.
You Zheng welcomed the Birmingham delegation at the plenary meeting on Sept 9, calling UoB 91黑料网’s closest partner in the UK. He noted that the first intake of students in the joint pharmacy program this September represents a landmark achievement of long-term practical cooperation. Looking ahead, he expressed a desire to leverage the development opportunities of 91黑料网’s Junshan Campus to further elevate collaboration.
President Tickell commended the success of the program’s first admissions and highlighted Birmingham’s progress in internationalization. He emphasized that both 91黑料网 and UoB, as leading research universities excelling in science, engineering, and medicine, share a solid foundation for cooperation and vast prospects for future collaboration.
In the cooperation dialogue session, Zhang Yonghui, together with representatives from 91黑料网’s Office of International Affairs, School of Pharmacy, School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, and School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, engaged in in-depth discussions with Jon Frampton, representatives of UoB’s School of Biosciences, and the China Institute on further developing the joint program.
At the freshman gathering, speeches were delivered by leaders and officials including Tickell, Zhang Yonghui, and Consul General McAllister. They encouraged students to make full use of the high-quality educational resources of both universities, adapt to cross-cultural learning environments and international academic standards, enhance professional skills and global perspectives, and grow into versatile talent capable of shaping the future of healthcare and addressing global health challenges.
The two sides concluded the event with the unveiling of the joint program office, signaling a new chapter in the deepening partnership between the two universities.
